Penn's Landing Lunchtime Run on 06/07/2011

Race St. Pier & Promenade
I decided to run to the Delaware River at lunch to check out the new pier & promenade at the end of Race. St.  Continued on down Columbus Blvd., turned around at The Moshulu and headed back towards Walnut St.

The sidewalk was crowded with lunch-goers and it was interesting dodging pedestrians!

Cue-in background music & choir begins singing... "He's a real no-keh man, sitting in his no-keh land..." ( sang to the tune of this Beatles classic).

The Boss & I decided to try something other than our Chilean/Argentinian choices. We picked up a small bottle of Cupcake Vineyards' Red Velvet. This is definitely making our shortlist of red wines.

Schuylkill River Trail Run - 06/02/2011

A panoramic view of the Chestnut St. Bridge
My turn-around point
Today was a breezy 79° in Philadelphia, way cooler than yesterday's 95° oven-like temperature.  A headwind on the way out made the run more challenging!  This made the return run easier with wind at my back.  Great day to be outside indeed!

Playful Rascals

These "partners in crime" are frequent visitors in the backyard.  They pose on tree stumps and traipse along the picket fence mockingly!

Yesterday, the duo circled under the bird feeder waiting for the right opportunity.  Up leaped one and hung upside-down throwing seeds down for the second to munch on!

Playful little rascals indeed!

Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May (May 31 in 2010). Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates U.S. men and women who died while in the military service. First enacted to honor Union soldiers of the American Civil War (it is celebrated near the day of reunification after the Civil War), it was expanded after World War I.

I didn't get a chance to capture the real one. So this stylized cutout will do for now.
