Kipon Tilt Adapter

Kipon Tilt Adapter by jomak14

The tilt adapter is a blast to use! It makes controlling the lens' tilt easier than holding an unmounted lens in the palm of your focusing hand. Wish they made one for EOS & Pentax K-mount though.

Saved By The Little Guy

It's one of those occasions that can't be missed and need to be captured in pictures!  I thought about the venue and available lighting and decided on fast prime lenses to be the optimum set-up.  Brought along a couple of Speedlites, just in case. I was all set to shoot my daughter Mariel's promotion ceremony.  Or so I thought.
The gear I planned on using.

Positioned myself in the corner of the auditorium where I could get an unobstructed view to the stage.  As I turn on the camera to take a test shot, BAM!!!  It hits me, "NO CF CARD"!!!  I had forgotten to take out the memory card from my desktop computer!
Oh, NOOOOOO!!!!  I forgot the CF card at home!

Thanks to my daughter's LUMIX FH25 point-&-shoot camera, I was able to capture those precious moments as she walked on stage to receive her promotion certificate.
A nifty & capable performer it is indeed!

Shaking hands with the School Principal, Dr. Joseph Waters.

And now with PA State Representative, Hon. Tom Murt.

Receiving her Promotions Packet.

And I learned a simple yet important lesson that day.  Always keep a spare memory card in the bag!

Vintage Gear - A Family of K-mounts

My introduction to photography was through my Dad's Pentax kit. It consisted of a K1000 body w/ a 28mm f/2.8, a 50mm f/2, a 135mm f/3.5 and a 70-210mm f/4.5 zoom.

The original Pentax 135mm lens was sold and replaced with a Takumar 135mm f/2.5. I added two 50mm f/1.4's, a 55mm f/2, a 90mm f/2.8 macro , a 200 mm f/4, a 400mm 5.6 (not in this photo) and a 500mm mirror lens to the kit. The Chinon CE-5 was bought from Ebay to replace the K1000 as the film-advance mechanism malfunctions. Manual exposure and focusing make me think twice before pushing down that shutter button.

B&W and color images captured from this kit can be seen here: www.flickr.com/photos/jomak14/sets/72157603182365623/ and www.flickr.com/photos/jomak14/sets/72157603182483597/

Alternative Standard

Alternative Standard
Originally uploaded by jomak14
The Micro Four Thirds system (MFT) is a standard created by Olympus and Panasonic for mirror-less interchangeable lens digital cameras and camcorders design and development, announced on August 5, 2008.

Micro Four Thirds shares the image sensor size and specification with the established Four Thirds system, designed for DSLRs. Unlike Four Thirds, Micro Four Thirds does not provide space for a mirror and a pentaprism, allowing smaller bodies to be designed. The standard supports use of Four Thirds lenses on Micro Four Thirds camera bodies using an adapter. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Micro_Four_Thirds_system)

Adapters for various camera mounts are readily available. I can use all my k-mount and EF-mount lenses on it. Here I have my EF-adapted Nikkor 50mm f/1.2 Ai-S mounted on the GF-1. Versatility that can't be beat indeed!

My daughter hijacked my GF-1 to bring to school. Earliest I'll have it back is Spring Break! Panasonic's newly released GF-2 never looked so good! Or is the Olympus EPL-2, with in-body stabilization, the better choice?;-D
